Shelly Says ~ "Thirsty For More"

"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?" Matthew 16:26 (ESV)

Today's message really hit home. I am a recovering workaholic: One who works too much because she finds her worth in her work and won't stop til she is fulfilled (definition mine).

Check out my March 17th blog post.

Search for satisfaction in the only One who can fulfill your soul's deepest desires.

Stop Drop and Pray... then share what meant the most to you in your quest to break free today.

  1. For the longest time, I thought work would satisfy my soul. That's how I became a workaholic. Here's an example of a stronghold that led to captivity. The stronghold in my life was finding my worth in my work and it held me captive by eventually costing me my soul.

I think any addiction is a symptom of an unsatisfied soul.

What's your addiction? Have you traded your soul for it yet?

I really enjoy hearing from you and doing this study together!

  2. The scripture from Isaiah 55 really hit home for me. I grew up in a home where despite on the surface happiness, the inhabitants were dissatisfied with the world and their place in it. I know I do the same thing- if we had a different house, more money, if this or that had happened in the past. I have felt the most satisification in the time periods where I have been actively studying God's Word. I am in need of this study right now! Thank you!

  3. Dear Anonymous,

You are so welcome! I am so glad that you are here... doing this study with us. I imagine that God is happy, too!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings.

I, too, was touched by Isaiah 55. Right now, my husband is w/o full-time work so you can imagine that we are in a tight spot financially. I wept when I read the first part of that passage...

"... You who have no money... come, eat, drink... without money and cost."

    SWEET MERCY!!!
